I wish I had read these reviews first.

I've had an awful experience with Lions Removals today 921/11/2024). I booked a 2 hour removal slot for £150.00. I paid a £75.00 deposit, with the balance of £75.00 being paid on completion.

The bedroom furniture was collected and taken to my house. But I was asked to pay the balance before the furniture was taken into my house.

The Supervisor (who was horrible) demanded a £150 balance. I explained that the balance was only £75.00, but he argued with me that I was wrong. He said that if I didn't pay him £150.00 in cash then he would take my furniture away and put it into storage.

So under duress I had to pay the £150.00. I asked for a receipt for the £150 in cash, but her refused to give me a receipt.

I feel completely ripped off by this Company and would urge anyone else not to make the mistake of booking them.

Unprofessional, unethical and an absolute rip off.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: £225

My daughter booked removal of furniture, agreeing £100 cost for 2 hours van hire. There were two men dispatched to the job, one being the boss. On arrival, the boss displayed a very negative attitude, trying to pressure my daughter into moving minimal items and although it was clear we would move all items well within the 2 hours, kept mentioning he would have to charge extra if it went over the time. He did no lifting or moving of furniture throughout.

I was helping move the furniture with the second guy, Dominic, who had a great attitude, which is why I gave 3 stars instead of zero. My daughter nor I would use this company again, due to the boss’s attitude and recommend other people avoid this company.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Flat Service cost: £100

All I can say is don’t ever use this company!! The service was shocking! The guys complained from the outset that they hadn’t been told they had to move various items because my son showed them around and he was to blame for not telling them everything!! Then they left 2 vans on my drive for 3 days causing endless disruption! There was only two of them that turned up for the whole process and they were rude, constantly whining, and when I said I wasn’t happy he said I’d signed the contract! They also held me to ransom and wouldn’t even offload until payment was made in full! I had no idea if there was anything missing or damaged! He just said it was tough! When they’d finished they insisted I sign to say they’d charge me £11.50 per box that wasn’t returned in a week!! Rude/incompetent and idiots!!

Service cost: £1200

The arrogant owner was very efficient in securing payments from me but denied all the damage they left me with was their fault... Their insurance excess conditions apparently make small claims unviable so I am left with all this to repair or replace at my own expense!

This was not just a couple of knocks, which I was willing to accept. There was broken glass, scuffed paint on 2 headboards and brand new white goods, marking on upholstery, crushed boxes clearly marked as fragile etc. etc. The worst part of my experience, though, was having to deal with the aggressive business owner, whose zero people skills and complete lack of professionalism made the move a far more stressful experience than it should have been.

I would definitely not employ them again. Celia Fisher. Liverpool.

*EDIT* approximately 30 minutes after leaving this review I received a phone call from Matt the owner. What I say really does sound unbelievable as they appear to be such a reputable company, but I have an 8 minute recording of an intimidating and threatening phone call which shows the phone number too.

Matt rang me and straight away started being aggressive, threatening me with negative reviews of my own business, if I didn’t remove my honest negative review of his business. I told him that my review was genuine especially as I’ve had a service from them so how can he post a negative review about my business when he’s had no experience with it.

He then proceeded to mention numerous times about how he has all my personal details including where I live, where I work and where I’m moving to, he really tried to bully me into removing my review.

Matt then ended the call threatening that he is going to ‘see me tomorrow’ and whichever way you interpret that it is a threat at this point.

Thankfully I managed to record this entire conversation and have reported it to Merseyside Police who have logged it and have requested the recording as evidence.

It’s disgusting that someone whose whole business is centered around being trustworthy, genuine people, going in and out of peoples homes with their belongings can use this private information in such a way as to make threats and insight fear into someone that only left a negative, honest review is crazy! Instead of taking it on board and respecting the customers experience.

I contacted this company as they have so many amazing reviews. This would be my first time using a removal service and I’ve been quite excited! From my first call with this company I was shocked at how rude the person on the phone was, I only informed them we currently had booked a Luton van and was going to do the move ourselves, but wanted to get a quote to see what it was like (as they offer a free quote). The person on the phone immediately got defensive saying the price is obviously not going to compare to just the price of the van hire and that you can’t compare the 2 services, but we never even mentioned we were comparing them! It was just to see whether we deemed the price to be worth it or not, we would never expect it to be the same price as just hiring a van yourself!

We proceeded with getting a free quotation, who then visited the following day (today) although they changed the arrival time 3 times before arriving.

The man that came done his job and was writing everything down - he seemed very serious and seemed like he just wanted to be in and out as fast as possible, which made the whole environment feel a bit awkward.

Their quote was on the higher end compared to other companies (around 25% higher), unfortunately the issue for us due to moving out and in to different properties on the same day was if there was a delay between us moving out and then collecting keys to move in it would be charged at £50 per hour or unlimited hours for £85 until 5pm. This seemed a bit of a money grab as every other company we received quotes from didn’t quite like this and was a flat rate for the move. They wanted the move to start at 7.45am so there was inevitably going to be some down time in between.

I then called them up around 4.45pm as I’d received their quote and was checking the price to see if it included the £85 hours fee, but was told that it was not included in the quote. I asked if he could call me back he said okay but they close in 20 mins, even though their website says open until 9/10pm, yet I didn’t receive a call back.

I’ve since spoken to another company who have gave a fixed with no additional fee as long as we’re in and out within our allocated time slot.

Lions Removals might be amazing during the actual removal and moving in process as they do have really good reviews, but it seems like the quotation process and pricing structure could do with some improvement.
